The curriculum, created by the Virginia Association of Driver Education and Traffic Safety (VADETS) is certified by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and based on the Virginia Driver’s Manual. Students 18 years of age or younger are required to take Driver Education Classroom course. Students will learn right-of-way rules, safe driving techniques, and strategies to help minimize risk.
The curriculum covers all the techniques needed to become a knowledgeable, licensed driver. This VADETS curriculum is also offered in public schools across Virginia. Class topics include:
– Signs, signals & pavement markings
– Right-of-way rules
– Rules of the road
– Strategies to help reduce risk
– Distracted driving
– Impaired driving
– Inclement weather conditions
– Adverse road conditions
– Virginia’s point system and driving violations
– Insurance requirements
– Vehicle maintenance
– Reducing costs
Topics such as distracted and impaired driving, hazardous road and weather conditions, vehicle maintenance, fuel efficient driving, and much more will be covered. This class is excellent for any age driver or soon-to-be driver. The classroom portion of driver training will be provided in 8 class periods of approximately 4 hours, 6 – five hour sessions or 7 – 4 1/2 hour sessions. Schedules will be posted accordingly.
The cost for Classroom Driver Education is $245. If you need both the classroom and behind-the-wheel, you can register for both courses at a discounted rate of $380 for a savings of $100.
